Address Corrections

When you send out postal mail, some of the pieces will be undeliverable because of a bad address.

These addresses need to be updated in the CRM to keep our data clean, reduce our mailing costs, and reduce the volunteer time needed to maintain our files.

Here are some guidelines.

  1. Never change the Voting Address. It will be updated when we import data from the Secretary of State. Even if this address is invalid, leave it coded as the Voting Address. You may, however, mark it as Primary.
  2. If the Voting Address is invalid and there is no other address, add a new Address and mark the new one as Invalid. Make sure the Voting Address is the Primary address.
  3. If there is only one address and it is not the Voting Address, just mark it as invalid.
  4. If the post office gave you a new address, add it as a Main address, and mark it as the Primary address.
  5. There is a checkbox for Primary Address with each address. Make sure the Primary Address checked is not an Invalid Address.
