MORE CHOICES FOR VOTERS

In almost every aspect of life, Americans enjoy a plethora of choices. Yet, when it’s time to vote for our political representatives, our choices are surprisingly limited. The Libertarian Party of Colorado will host a panel discussion that will present alternative voting options. These alternatives give voters the opportunity to express their true preferences more effectively. The panel discussion will present two alternative methods: Ranked Choice Voting and Proportional Representation.

The current plurality voting system can leave voters unhappy with the end result, since they often must choose the “lesser of two evils”. Alternative voting methods may help to resolve some of the problems that plurality voting creates. Advocates will compare Ranked Choice Voting and Approval Voting, and present each method’s advantages. They will also show how these alternative voting methods offer voters more choices than the current plurality system. Join us at the 2017 Libertarian Party of Colorado Convention to learn about alternative voting methods and how they can help provide voters with more and better choices when they go to the polls. Visit www.lpcolorado.org/2017convention to learn more about this presentation as well as many other exciting speakers and events.

The 2017 Libertarian Party of Colorado State Convention takes place March 24-26, 2017 at the Westin Hotel in Westminster Colorado, the home city of Party co-founder, the late David Nolan, and the birthplace of the Libertarian Party. Our line-up of speakers include Laura Ebke, Austin Petersen, Arvin Vohra, Steve Kerbel, Apollo Pazzel, David K. Williams, Ron Gowins, Sarah Stewart, Corey Fauconier, Caryn Ann Harlos and MORE, including a panel discussion on alternative voting methods such as Approval Voting and Ranked Choice Voting.
